Jean-Remy von Matt
Founder/Chairman Jung von Matt, Germany
Founder and Chairman Jung von Matt AG, Hamburg, Germany
The first job Jean-Remy von Matt ever held was in the obituaries section of a Swiss newspaper. He was still a young student, and he soon asked himself whether people who had reached the end of their life did not perhaps deserve a better farewell than just standardized copy. This was his first impulse towards creative advertising. Today Jean-Remy is the creative heart of Germany's largest independent advertising agency, Jung von Matt, founded in Hamburg in 1991 by Holger Jung and Jean-Remy von Matt. Nowadays the holding company employs 860 people and manages twelve agencies in the German-speaking world as well as agencies in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Sweden.
When it comes to awards for creativity and effectiveness, Jung von Matt has been the most successful agency in German-speaking Europe for the past 20 years. Since 1994 Jung von Matt has consistently hit the German ADC's top three and has been ranked first eleven times. Furthermore, the agency has won numerous awards, including Cannes Lions, Clio, D&AD, Eurobest and One Show trophies.

James McGrath
Creative Chairman
Clemenger BBDO, Australia
James McGrath is the Creative Chairman of Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, Australia's most Creative (winning Campaign Brief's 'Agency of The Year' for the last three years in a row) and most Effective Agency(Officially Effies Australian Agency of the Year, for the last two years running). He has won more than 500 international and local Creative awards in his career but it is this balance, this mutuality of most Creative and most Effective that lies at the heart of his driving principal of Applied Creativity.
In Australia, James has a reputation for turning floundering agencies into award winning creative powerhouses. Under his leadership at George Patterson Y&R, the agency, considered an aging dinosaur only a couple of years before, went on to win 2007 Agency of the Year and was voted 8th best agency in the world by The Gunn Report. It also produced globally award-winning work including the Carlton Draught 'Big Ad' (featured in the Sydney's Powerhouse Museum and voted Australia's Ad of the Decade and most recently voted by The One Club as 'the number One Beer ad of the Last 15 years').
He has continued this trend at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, winning every Agency of the Year title in Australia over the last four years, creating globally recognized work such as Four N'Twenty Magic Salad Plate (Gold at Cannes), Guide Dogs 'Support Scent' (Gold at Cannes) NAB 'Breakup' (This year's Cannes PR Grand Prix winner) and Carlton Draught Slow-Mo TVC (Gold at Cannes) to name a few. Clemenger BBDO Melbourne has also won more effectiveness awards than any other agency in both Australia and the whole of the Asia Pacific region.
James' focus is creative excellence combined with precise strategic thought, the aim of which is to create thinking that is robust yet seemingly effortless. It's with those principals and the same sense of judgment that has seen him join BBDO creative leaders David Lubars and Marcello Serpa in the Big Won 2011 rankings, top 10 Creative Officers and has served James well on a succession of prestigious international award juries such as One Show, D&AD, Cannes and now, New York Festivals.

Joaquín has overseen campaigns at la comunidad for clients that include Apple, Volvo, Corona Extra, Modelo Especial, MTV, Rolling Stone, Coca-Cola, Disney and many more across a variety of markets including regionally within Argentina, the U.S Hispanic market, Latin America and the U.S. general market, as well as global projects.

Marty Orzio
Chief Creative Officer
Gotham NY, USA
Marty began his career as an English teacher in the Bronx.
He broke into advertising with a one-year stint at Wunderman Worldwide, where he worked on American Express, TWA and Sports Illustrated; and then switched to general advertising at the Marschalk Company (which became Lowe & Partners/SMS). During his 12 years there, he quickly rose from copywriter to EVP Creative Group Head, developing campaigns for Denny's Restaurants, Citibank, Braun, Sun Microsystems, Sprite, Diet Coke, Mennen and Prudential. His Mercedes-Benz work won virtually every industry award-including two Gold Lions.
In 1999, Marty became CCO and Partner at Merkley Newman Harty. While continuing his award-winning advertising for Mercedes, he managed Forbes, Travelers Insurance, BellSouth, BMW Motorcycles, Partnership for a Drug-Free America, JetBlue and United Healthcare.
Marty then took the creative helm at BBDO Chicago, which, building upon its strengths and values, was renamed Energy BBDO. The agency won a 5-year Effie and a bunch of other awards for accounts such as Orbit, Altoids, Jim Beam, Canadian Club, Lasalle Bank and the United Way.
He is currently CCO at Gotham, winning new business such as Best Western, Chobani yogurt and Denny's, and winning awards for Yellowbook, Britax and the American Heart Association.
Marty believes that creating the right conditions for creative people has certain similarities to managing the wonderful rebellious, insecure and volatile nature of eighth graders.

Hugo Rodrigues
Chief Operating Officer / Chief Creative Officer
Publicis, Brazil
Hugo Rodrigues
Chief Operating Officer / Chief Creative Officer
Publicis, Brazil
Hugo Rodrigues has just been appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO), accumulating as CCO (Chief Creative Officer) of Publicis in Brazil, in January, 2011. Therefore, he is the first creative professional to assume the responsibility to manage all departments at the Publicis Brasil, Salles Chemistri and Publicis Dialog agencies.
Two years ago Hugo Rodrigues took over as Vice President Creative Director for Publicis Brasil. In this period Publicis grew 47% compared to 2008, and jumped 19 positions in the Brazilian agency ranking. That was one of the biggest turnarounds in the local advertising market and the best performance among all Publicis Worldwide offices in 2009.
He was one of the founders of Salles Chemistri, which in just 4 years built a solid and respectable image in the market. In the Brazilian ranking, it appears ahead of large agencies such as Grey Brasil and Age Isobar (source: Ibope Monitor).
As a marketing graduate, he's obsessed by results and understands that this is what the client needs. Hugo Rodrigues always supported relevant clients such as Nestlé, GM, Citibank, P&G, Sanofi-Aventis, HP, L'Oréal, Swatch, Groupe SEB, Carrefour, Philips, Bradesco, and Mitsubishi, among others.
He has a professional background as copywriter, but he creates events, internet, promotional and relationship campaigns with the same punch that makes his advertising campaigns part of the Brazilian pop culture. Hugo Rodrigues is the guy who made the famous "Tô Nem Aí" and "Poeira" campaigns that shook the entire country, and helped GM conquer the sales leadership in Brazil that year.
One of his most challenging works created to GM - "Transformers" - had the approval of Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay's studio.
In 2009 Hugo Rodrigues won a Cannes Lion with a Procter & Gamble campaign and 2010 he won another with the Swatch Wristbands case, an idea that became a global media platform for the brand. Swatch Wristbands is still winning important awards around the world.
He has awards from many other important advertising festivals, such as: Clio Awards, The One Show, New York Festivals, Fiap (Festival Iberoamericano de La Publicidad), El Ojo de Ibero-America, Golden Drum and Ad Stars. He was also awarded at top local festivals as CCSP (São Paulo Creative Club), Globo Professional of the Year, Columnists Award, ANJ (National Newspaper Association), Maximidia and Folha/Meio&Mensagem Award.
Recently Hugo Rodrigues was elected one of the ten best Brazilian communication professionals in 2011, ranked by Meio&Mensagem (M&M) one of the most relevant newspaper specialized in marketing and advertising in Brazil.
Hugo Rodrigues was also elected "Creative Professional of the Year" by the Advertising Professionals Association (APP - Associação dos Profissionais da Propaganda).
Hugo Rodrigues was a juror at several festivals and prizes, such as Cannes, D&AD Awards, London Festival, El Ojo, Ciclope Internacional Advertising Craft, Abril Award, CCSP, Effie Awards and Brazilian Advertising Association (ABP - Associação Brasileira de Propaganda) Festival. He recently was invited to be part of the first Executive Jury of New York Festivals 2011.
For all his history and experience, Hugo has been invited to minister talks to communication and marketing professionals all over Brazil and Latin America.

As radical as it is, Diane Ruggie has spent her entire career (less one year) at DDB Chicago, most recently as a Senior Vice President/Group Creative Director. In the past five years, she has won and led a roster of businesses with billings that exceed half a billion dollars.
Within the first 9 months of her career, she won a Clio for a not-for-profit organization. That set the tone and made her a must-have team player. Of the 45 awards she's gotten so far—from New York Festivals, London International, Chicago International, Effies, Mobius, Addys, Globals, Clios and Cannes—36 of them are for charities.
Her campaigns for the Alzheimer's Association and the American Cancer Society have received special judges awards for writing. Around the globe, editors in Japan, designers in London and judges at Cannes have acknowledged her campaigns for The Field Museum in Chicago. She's a featured writer in the book Copywriting--Successful Writing for Design, Advertising and Marketing.
Diane has built the brands of remarkable paying clients as well: McDonald's, Safeway, Luxottica, H&R Block, Wrigley, The Clorox Company, Discover Card, Unilever, Henkel, Hanes Brands, and Dell, to name a few.
But Diane's favorite part of the job is developing award winning teams, including coaching her 2nd and 4th grade sons on to win their respective spelling bees.

Andreas Ullenius
Executive Creative Director, Senior Partner, Åkestam Holst, Stockholm, Sweden
Andreas Ullenius
Executive Creative Director, Senior Partner, Åkestam Holst, Stockholm, Sweden
Andreas Ullenius stumbled trough the door of the independent creative agency Åkestam Holst in Stockholm about ten years ago when it still was a small and rather new agency. He started out as an art director assistant pretty much because he needed the money but a decade later he is still there, now the executive creative director at one of the worlds most awarded alternative agencies and working with clients all over the world, he's still wondering what he should do for work. Someone said that if you find a job that you love - you wont work a day in your life. Andreas couldn't agree more. The Agency's alternative and open view on problem solving, and their passion for the change we live and work in, has earned the agency an international reputation and something like 300 awards in the last 6 years. Andreas believes that the totally confused time of now is a fantastic time to be a creative. The toolbox is bigger and more dynamic than ever, the possibilities are endless and whoever embrace the change will have the time of their life.

Conway Williamson

He's worked on everything from Dos Equis, to Jaguar, Jet Blue and DC shoes. Currently, besides managing new business wins on Lenovo, Trident and Chase, he also oversees Saatchi & Saatchi's roster of clients that include Miller/Coors, General Mills and Proctor & Gamble. When asked how to best describe what he does for a living, he replies "I make stuff...we make stuff. It is that simple…the making of is a bit more complicated, but at the end of the day we get a business problem on a piece of paper and we make stuff that (hopefully) solves it. And it's different every time...how cool is that?"

MORE TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON!
2012 EXECUTIVE JURY MODERATORS
Unlike other advertising competitions, the New York Festivals Executive Jury does not elect a chairman or president — all members are of equal status. Mr. Gunn and Mr. Conrad, both experienced moderators, will guide the proceedings, which promises to be the world's largest gathering of worldwide chief creative officers ever to judge an advertising competition.
Donald Gunn
Founder
The Gunn Report
Donald Gunn joined Leo Burnett in London, fresh from Cambridge University, in 1962.
Donald worked as an Account Executive for 6 years, before becoming a Copywriter. He subsequently served as Burnett's Managing Director in the Netherlands and Switzerland and Creative Director in South Africa and France.
In 1984, Donald was appointed Leo Burnett's Director of Creative Resources Worldwide. In this job, based in Chicago, he created several Burnett institutions which are the envy of the industry - including the World TV Update and Worldbeater reels, and Global Product Committee - as well as spearheading the worldwide study on creativity and effectiveness, "Do Award Winning Commercials Sell?" He became dubbed by Ad Age as..."The man with the best job in advertising"
After retirement from Burnett, Donald served for two Festivals - 1998 and 1999 - as President of the Cannes Festival. Also in 1999 Donald launched The Gunn Report & Showreel of the Year, which seems to have caught on worldwide as "the official" measure of competitive excellence for the advertising industry.

Michael Conrad
President
Berlin School of Creative Leadership
After 34 wonderful years in advertising Michael Conrad retired in 2003. Born in Germany - a country more famous for great cars and less famous for great ads, as his friend John Hegarty likes to point out - Michael brought German engineering to global quality management in advertising, helping Leo Burnett Worldwide Inc. become Global Agency Network of the Year in 2000 (AdAge) and Most Awarded Agency Network in 2001 (Gunn Report). Under his creative leadership 27 Leo Burnett agencies were named Agency of the Year in their countries, some of them more than once.
Upon retiring in 2003 ADC Germany's Sebastian Turner approached Michael to help develop ADC's education initiatives. Having identified low quality Creative Leadership as the main reason for low quality standards in creative industries, the idea was born to establish The Berlin School of Creative Leadership.
Michael lives with his wife Helga in Zurich, Switzerland. They enjoy their three children's creative progress: Anja's fresh photography; Josepha and Philipp's desperate serenades.
