New York Festivals International Advertising Awards Announces First Round of Executive Jury Appointments for 2013

New York Festivals® International Advertising Awards® announced the first round of Executive Jury appointments. This is the third year that NYF will assemble the “dream team,” an elite group of Worldwide Creative Officers brought together to select the “World’s Best Advertising®.”

“The 2013 Executive Jury represents some of the world’s most innovative and creative minds in the advertising industry today, said Michael O’Rourke, President International Awards Group/New York Festivals. “Entrants to the competition have the opportunity to have their work seen by this incredible brain trust, and the unique aspect of bringing together a jury of this caliber to evaluate all entries across all mediums assures that the competition is truly awarding only “The World’s Best Advertising®.”

The NYF Executive Jury convenes in New York City April 27th through May 1st, concluding with the New York Show awards presentation on Thursday, May 2nd, 2013.  Additional Executive Jury Appointments are forthcoming.

The first round of the 2013 Executive Jury Members includes:

The Executive Jury evaluates every shortlisted entry selected by the online Grand Jury, comprised of 400+ international executive creative directors, making it the most diverse jury of any advertising competition in the world. The Shortlist is generated from the first two rounds of judging. The Executive Jury will select ads from the Shortlist during five additional rounds of judging. In 2012, more than 330,000 votes were cast throughout the process.

New York Festivals will host the 2013 celebration of the World’s Best Advertising® with The New York Show™, a two-day series of creative events held at the landmark New York Public Library’s Beaux-Arts building located at 455 Fifth Avenue at 40th Street in New York City. Festivities will be held on Wednesday and Thursday May 1st  and 2nd, 2013  and includes the Executive Jury Press Conference, keynote speakers, creative panel discussions, networking events, and exhibits of the Shortlisted work. Thursday evening features the 2013 New York Show awards ceremony and after-party to honor the winners in true New York style.

New York Festivals® 2013 International Advertising Awards® Announces Call for Entries for The World’s Best Advertising®

New York Festivals International Advertising Awards® announced its Call for Entries for the 2013 competition honoring the “World’s Best Advertising®.” The International Advertising Awards competition receives entries from 70 countries and recognizes work in all media in the following competitions:  Avant-Garde, Branded Entertainment, Creative Marketing Effectiveness, Design, Digital, Direct & Collateral, Film, Integrated, Outdoor, Print, Public & Media Relations, Public Service, Radio and Student.

In 2012, for the second year in a row, New York Festivals assembled an elite group of Worldwide Chief Creative Officers from the world’s most prominent ad agencies to participate on the live Executive Jury, moderated by Donald Gunn, the founder of the The Gunn Report, and Michael Conrad, president of the Berlin School of Creative Leadership. These high level creative officers gathered in one room to judge the final rounds of the NYF International Advertising Awards.

The 2013 New York Show, NYF’s 2-day series of events, will begin on May 1st and will feature creative panel discussions, keynote speakers, networking events, the 2012 Executive Jury Press Conference, exhibits, and the May 2nd International Advertising Awards ceremony. All New York Show events and the 2013 awards gala will take place at the New York Public Library’s Beaux-Arts landmark Stephen A. Schwarzman building located at 455 Fifth Avenue in New York City.

Entries submitted before December 16th will receive a 10% discount on entry fees. The 2013 competition Entry Deadline is January 27th, all entries submitted after January 27th will be subject to a 15% late fee.

New York Festivals® 2013 International Advertising Awards® Announces Restructuring of Competitions and Categories

New York Festivals® International Advertising Awards®, honoring the “World’s Best Advertising®,” announced a total restructuring of the International Advertising Awards competitions and categories. There will be 14 competitions designed to reflect the current work being produced globally, giving the awards show the most relevant parameters to measure creative communications.

The restructuring reflects trends in the constantly evolving advertising communications industry, and the roster includes the following new competitions: Branded Entertainment, Creative Marketing Effectiveness, and Digital.

Branded Entertainment addresses the trend of connecting the consumer and brand through emotions and new technology, concentrating on campaigns that entertain and engage the viewer through original content and experiences. Categories within this competition include Digital Media, Events, Gaming, Sponsorship Integration, User-Generated Content, among others.

The Creative Marketing Effectiveness competition stresses the achievement of specific marketing goals and objectives through creative execution and strategic planning. Entries in this competition will be scored on a 4-tiered matrix: Results & Effectiveness: 30%, Idea: 25%, Execution: 25%, and Challenge, Strategy, & Objectives: 20%.

Digital encompasses all things new media…new standards, new techniques and new ideas.  Categories include Websites and Microsites, Banners and Rich Media, Viral, Integrated Campaigns, and Interactive Applications, to name a few.

New York Festivals International Advertising Awards and the Berlin School of Creative Leadership Announce the Helga and Michael Conrad Scholarship for New York Festivals Jury Members

New York, NY – September 20, 2012:  New York Festivals® International Advertising Awards, now in its 56th year of honoring the World’s Best Advertising™, announced their partnership with the Berlin School of Creative Leadership to offer an exclusive scholarship for New York Festivals Executive and Grand Jury Members, the “Helga and Michael Conrad Scholarship for New York Festivals Jury Members”.

This scholarship provides New York Festival International Advertising Awards Executive Jury and Grand Jury members the opportunity to attend the Berlin School’s part-time global Executive MBA Creative Leadership Program. The recipient of this scholarship will receive 53,000 Euro in tuition based support to attend the EMBA program starting March 10, 2013 in Berlin. Designed for busy professionals, the program can be completed in one to two years with 5 separate 2-week modules in Berlin, the USA, and Asia.

The application deadline for the “Helga and Michael Conrad Scholarship for New York Festivals Jury Members” is November 1st, 2012 and the scholarship winner will be announced on November 15th, 2012. New York Festivals International Advertising Awards Jury members (both current and past) may apply or they may nominate a leader from their agency.

The scholarship is open to all jury members who have served on New York Festivals International Advertising Awards juries. All applicants must have a Bachelors degree and entries will be reviewed by an esteemed panel of judges from the Berlin School. The NYF Executive Jury selected one outstanding entry to receive the coveted title of “World’s Best Idea®”:  Digitas and Crispin Porter +Bogusky were honored for their integrated campaign “Small Business Saturday” for client American Express. This new shopping day between Black Friday and Cyber Monday was originally launched by American Express in 2010 to support small businesses, help preserve neighborhoods, and fuel the local economies. American Express took Main Street mainstream with a multi-touch campaign that energized and engaged the small business community, their consumers, media and brand partners, and even local and national government officials using simple, sharable and powerful social actions. American Express executives Laura Fink, Vice President, Social Media/Small Business Saturday, and Allison Silver, Vice President, Brand accepted the award at last night’s Gala.

DDB Wins Network of the Year at 2012 New York Festivals

The Network of the Year, a prestigious honor presented to the agency network that achieves the most awards and produces the finest caliber of work, was awarded to DDB Worldwide.  DDB Worldwide was honored with a total of 14 medals representing 8 countries from their worldwide offices in this year’s competition. Matt Eastwood, Chief Creative Officer, DDB NY accepted the award.

Winning entries of the 2012 New York Festivals International Advertising Awards were selected by the NYF Executive Jury, an elite group of worldwide chief creative officers, through 5 rounds of live judging. Award winners were selected from a Shortlist chosen by the Grand Jury through 2 rounds of online judging. British Actor/Voice-Over Talent, Christopher Flockton to host New York Festivals 2012 International Advertising Awards Ceremony

Christopher Flockton, British actor and voice-over talent will host the 2012 New York Festivals® International Advertising Awards New York Show Awards Ceremony on May 3rd at the landmark New York Public Library Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.  As NYF’s Master of Ceremonies, Flockton takes to the stage to honor the World’s Best Advertising™ from around the globe.

For six years Chris was the narrator and personality behind VH1’s top-rated show, The Fabulous Life. The show’s 110 episodes can been seen on VH1 and MTV networks in over 30 countries around the world.  He has also appeared on Law & Order: SVU in the episode, “Trophy” opposite Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni.  Chris is the promo voice for ESPN’s coverage of Barclay’s Premier League soccer, and  has been heard several time in comedy bits during Jimmy Kimmel’s opening monologue.

Chris was a member of New York’s acclaimed Rumble in the RedRoom sketch comedy ensemble for 4 years, and has worked extensively in theatre, film, voice-over, and countless corporate events around the world.

The Executive Jury, an elite group of Worldwide Creative Officers, will convene in New York City April 28th through May 1st to select the World’s Best Advertising™ through 5 rounds of judging.

The Executive Jury will be moderated for the second year in a row by Donald Gunn, Founder of the renowned Gunn Report, and will be joined by Michael Conrad, President of the Berlin School of Creative Leadership. Unlike other competitions, the NYFA Executive Jury does not elect a chairman or president — all members are of equal status.
