Niko was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. Half Japanese, Spanish, Norwiegen, German and Philipino, her parent’s record collection was as rich as their heritage and from a very young age she was obsessed with music, spending hours at the piano every day, singing in a gospel choir and staging musical theatre perfomances in her backyard. By the age of 16 she was singing at prestigious jazz festivals across America with her prize-winning High School Band.

New York Festivals International Advertising Awards will celebrate the World’s Best Advertising™ on May 2^nd – 3^rd at the 2012 New York Show.  This exciting 2-day festival will feature creative panel discussions, keynote speakers, seminars, networking events, and the 2012 Executive Jury Press Conference.  The festival culminates with an awards presentation and gala on May 3^rd at the iconic New York Public Library Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, located at Fifth Avenue and 42^nd Street.

The New York Public Library Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, designed in Beau-Arts style by architects Carrère and Hastings, celebrated its 100^th birthday on May 23, 2011.  The main branch was declared a national historic landmark in 1965, and recently underwent a three-year, $50 million restoration   The library’s majestic steps are permanently guarded by its two beloved Library Lions – Patience and Fortitude – named by Mayor Fiorello La Guardia in the 1930’s, who chose the names because he felt the citizens of New York needed to possess these qualities in order to see themselves through the Great Depression.

The New York Festivals International Advertising Awards will play host to attendees from around the globe, including award winners, industry professionals, international press, and the 2012 Executive and Grand Jury.

New York Festivals International Advertising Awards  announced today that Donald Gunn, Founder of the renowned Gunn Report, will reprise his role as Moderator of the 2012 New York Festivals International Advertising Awards Executive Jury and will be joined by Michael Conrad, President of the Berlin School of Creative Leadership. Unlike other competitions, the NYFA Executive Jury does not elect a chairman or president — all members are of equal status. Mr. Gunn and Mr. Conrad, both experienced moderators, will guide the proceedings, which promises to be the world’s largest gathering of worldwide chief creative officers ever to judge an advertising competition.

“There are three great reasons to participate,” said Mr. Conrad, “A brilliant Jury – Getting the best possible leadership perspective on the state of the ad business for the Berlin School of Creative Leadership; NYF CEO Jim Smyth – He’s building a relevant and inspiring award-show for today’s ad-industry; and being able to join Donald Gunn as Executive Jury Moderator.”

Donald Gunn began working at Leo Burnett fresh from Cambridge University, beginning his career as an account executive and then six years later as a copywriter.  He served as Burnett’s Managing Director in the Netherlands and Switzerland and Creative Director in South Africa and France.  Continue reading →
