New York Festivals: Who or what were your early influences in your career?

Juan Pablo Córdoba: My first influence was my first boss. Her name is Mariela Sardegna. She was my boss for 2 years, and she taught me how to put on the keyboard or paper those ideas which were swirling in my head. Even today, I apply some concepts that she showed me 10 years ago.

New York Festivals: What’s the most important thing you learned from your first job?

Juan Pablo Córdoba: My first job taught me one thing: whoever works in radio must work every day to make the best radio, and not wait for someone to tell you that your radio is the best.

New York Festivals: What were some early leadership lessons for you?

Juan Pablo Córdoba: You can’t do something fast, greatly, and without mistreating the employee. I prefer to place the third point above all.

New York Festivals: What qualities are the most important to have?

Juan Pablo Córdoba: Creativity, patience and adaptability. (creativity to adapt; patience when there is no creativity; and adaptability when your boss has no patience)

New York Festivals: Tell us a bit about your evolution in the radio industry?

Juan Pablo Córdoba: I started 11 years ago as a writer. My main task was to write advertising spots. Two years later I was the Creative Writer of Radio Mitre, where I conceptualized and wrote promotions, jingles, and programs / station ID’s. I then became the Artistic Producer of the whole company, without putting aside the task which is the most love: writing.

My job on Radio Mitre (#1 radio station in Argentina) is complemented with others occupations including: teacher (of radio works) and of course, as jury member at the famous NYF.

New York Festivals: What was a defining moment in your career?

Juan Pablo Córdoba: I’m at the perfect time in my career where maturity and enthusiasm are combined.
