New York Festivals® Merges Innovative Advertising Awards with World's Best Advertising®

New York, NY – April 14, 2010: New York Festivals® announced the merger of the Innovative Advertising Awards with their flagship competition, New York Festivals World's Best Advertising. The merger, initiated after analysis of client feedback, combines the similar categories of the two competitions, while adding new categories to the World's Best Advertising competition roster. This merger allows winners of both award shows to be honored together at the 2010 World's Best Advertising Ceremony in Shanghai, China on June 10th -12th.

Eighteen years ago, NYF became the first international awards company to honor the most creative digital, interactive, and emerging media with the creation of the New Media Awards. Through the years, the New Media Awards evolved into the Innovative Advertising Awards, and now will be combined with the World's Best Advertising. As new media has expanded to become such an integral component of advertising campaigns, and with entries increasing substantially, the NYF World's Best Advertising adapted by adding two competitions to honor those entries: Digital & Interactive and Avant-Garde. In 2011, NYF will continue to strategically evaluate and redefine entry categories, thus reflecting current trends in the evolving industry.

NYF's Innovative Advertising Awards trophy winners have always set the standard for breakthrough creativity in new media. In 2009, Goodby Silverstein & Partners received the Grand Trophy for "Hotel 626". The winning entry, created for client Doritos, featured an interactive haunted hotel that takes the viewer through a frightening yet entertaining on line experience combining live action footage with digital environments. The San Francisco agency also took home four Gold medals, two for Nintendo Wii "WarioLand Shake It", and one medal each for "GotMilk.com" for California Fluid Milk Processors Advisory Board and "Sprint Now" for client Sprint.

Other prominent 2009 trophy winners included: DDB San Francisco, receiving two Gold medals for their entry "The Reverse Graffiti Project"; Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO of London, England was awarded the Gold medal for their entry "Tipping Point" for client Draught Guinness; AKQA Limited, of London, England received the Gold medal for "NIKE PHOTOiD" for client Nike; BETC Euro RSCG of Paris, France was awarded the Gold medal for "The Ad Auction" for client eBay; and Forsman & Bodenfors of Gothenburg, Sweden received two Gold Medals for their entry "Come Into the Closet Let's Dance" for IKEA. McCann-Erickson Tokyo, Japan also received a Gold Medal for, "The Eco Zoo" for The Eco Zoo.

The Shanghai events on June 10th -12th will include prominent keynote speakers, interactive speaker sessions, a Print & Design winner's gallery, TVC screenings, as well as the presentation of trophies to the winners of the 2010 World's Best Advertising, the 2010 Innovative Awards, and the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. This year's event, sponsored by Sino ADI, will be held at the Shanghai Theatre Academy and Sino ADI's state-of-the-art advertising and marketing center.
