April 19, 2007: Tired of sitting back at Awards Shows and listening to an endless array of speeches and giddy winners? Do you find yourself looking at your watch, hopelessly seeking that next refill of champagne? If you answered "yes" to both questions, then you’re in for a treat at the New York Festivals 15th Annual Interactive New Media Advertising Awards, taking place on April 27th at the Daryl Roth Theater in Union Square (20 Union Square East, at 15th Street).
One of the true pioneers in honoring the best of the new media industry, New York Festivals – now in its 50th year - has always been ahead of the game in recognizing the importance of alternative media in advertising, from CD-ROMS to guerrilla marketing. The theme of this year’s show - written by Richard Alfredo and directed by Stewart M. Schulman – is "Interactivity and the Human Need."
Prepare to be engaged, enlightened and entertained! Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to view the award-winning works representing 35 different countries. Come listen to leading visual media artists as they explore the contemporary pieces and examine the various types of interactive exchange.
If you want to get caught up on all the latest new media trends, chat about the pros and cons of guerrilla advertising or are curious about the role ethics plays in the industry, then be sure to check out our lively lecture and panel discussion from Noon to 4:00 PM. Hear from some of the top artists in the field as they offer their views on new media. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn about everything you always wanted to know about surveillance, sensor or video work but were afraid to ask!
The interaction continues at our cocktail and networking reception at 6:00 PM. Meet our Interactive and Alternative Media Medalists while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and live music from noted New York City composer Thomas Lawrence Toscano. Then at 7:30, it’s showtime! Cheer on our Gold, Silver and Bronze world medal winners at our glamorous awards ceremony hosted by Todd Alan Crain, Ginifer King and Lacey Kohl, featuring performances by Broadway stars Kristine Zbornick and George Sanders, the Buglisi Dance Theatre and Peridance Theater.
The party doesn’t stop there. Stay for our VJ After Party and witness the best in innovative sound, movement and video experiments the Big Apple has to offer!
